Properly Applying Mineral Makeup Is Easier Than You Think!
Article by Marcus Ryan
Is the only thing keeping your from experiencing all the benefits of mineral makeup the fact that you’re not sure you would apply it correctly? Then it’s time to make the switch to this amazing new beauty product, because the good news is that learning to apply mineral makeup perfectly takes next to no time!
If you’re like most women, you know how difficult it can be to create that professionally-made-up appearance we all desire using liquid makeup. Liquid makeup streaks, cakes, and is very difficult to apply without leaving that noticeable contrast line where the makeup stops and natural skin begins!
Mineral makeup and cosmetics including the mineral foundation, on the other hand, is far more forgiving and mistake-proof! By following a few simple tips, you’ll soon master the art of creating a flawless finish with your mineral makeup so you can proceed to complete your look with your eye shadow and your lip treatment.
Prepare Your Face
Your face must be cleansed and moisturized before you apply your mineral makeup. Give your skin all the time it needs to completely absorb your moisturizer.
If you’re in the habit of putting a primer on your face before using a foundation, you can continue to do so. Many women find that a primer smoothes the texture of their skin and many lines of mineral makeup include primers.
Have The Correct Tools
As user-friendly as it is, mineral makeup does require the correct tools. Applying the makeup with your normal cosmetic brushes may not result in the perfect finish you are expecting.
To make the most of your mineral makeup, you need two brushes. One is known as a kabuki brush, and has short, very dense bristles. The other is a large, wide-bristled makeup brush. With the kabuki brush you’ll achieve a very smooth finish but will use more of the makeup.
If you prefer wearing a minimal amount of makeup, apply your mineral makeup with the larger brush. If at all possible, buy your brushes from the same company which makes your makeup.
Use The Correct Technique
The same company which is responsible for bringing returning mineral makeup to the market, Bare Minerals, advises using the same application technique for all brands of mineral makeup.
Known as the “swirl, tap, and buff” technique, it’s simple to master. Shake a small amount of your mineral makeup into its container lid, swirl your application brush in it, loading the brush as fully as you can. Then remove the excess powder by tapping the brush against the lid. Apply (buff) the makeup onto your face, using light circular motions.
The only problem some women encounter when applying their mineral cosmetics and makeup is that it sometimes sees to result in a heavier application than they want. One of the quirks of mineral makeup is that there may be lag between when you complete the application and when you can tell you are wearing makeup. This happens because the minerals need to settle into the skin’s surface. When they do, you will notice a smooth finish.
While applying mineral makeup and cosmetics properly will take a bit of practice, it’s certainly nothing you can’t master in one or two tries. And the rewards are well worth the effort!

Cosmetics: Makeup Tips From Models and Movie Stars – Learning From Makeup Artists About Applying Cosmetics
Women put a great deal of importance on cosmetics, mascara and lipstick to make themselves attractive. They feel good about themselves when they are all dolled-up with cosmetics. Just hearing someone say, “you look nice today”, can make their day. Yes, cosmetics, mascara and lipstick have become basic necessities for well dressed women. In fact, most women do not feel that they are good looking without makeup. They feel they will be adversely judged if they do not look pretty. Is there some truth to this? Does society put such emphasis on appearance?
Even though looks shouldn’t matter, the question arises–do good looking people get treated with favoritism? Do they tend to have greater advantages in life? For example, would a stranger be more inclined to come to the aid of a woman who is very attractive? Might she receive better service at the auto shop? Simply because she is good looking?
An experiment was conducted in New York city. Two women were given folders filled with papers. They were told to drop them on a busy sidewalk and observe what would happen. Would anyone help them? When the attractive woman dropped her folder, suddenly people immediately came to help. Then she observed the other “average looking” woman drop her folder. She was saddened when nobody came to her friend’s assistance.
Why this differential treatment? Is this strictly a cultural phenomenon? Do we learn this from observing and imitating others? Well, studies show that babies will look more intently and longer at prettier faces. If infants could not possibly be influenced to be biased at this tender age, then we must somehow be hard-wired, rather than conditioned, to respond more favorably to more attractive people.
What can we do about it?
If it truly is an intrinsic quality of humans to show a more favorable disposition to more attractive people, then there is very little we can do about it. All the rebellion in the world won’t change human nature. If someone pays us a compliment by telling us how nice we look, would we chastise them? Would we question why they show partiality? No, rather, we would be grateful for this compliment and view it as a human kindness.
How to accept this ugly truth?
It will be easier for us to accept this human tendency if we admit that we ourselves at times are partial to this kind of admiration. Depending on if it is to our advantage or not. Favorable when it is to our advantage; not-favorable when we are at the short end of the stick. We must be realistic and remember that a person’s physical attractiveness, just like their personality, impacts every individual literally from birth to death. As unfair as at that may be, it’s reality. We can never change that. The best thing that we can do is change our attitude, learn from others and use it to our advantage.
How to use it to our advantage?
Movie stars are usually renowned for their good looks. To them, their appearance is a top priority. This is because their livelihood depends on it. In fact, some are noted to say, “It is better to look good, than to feel good!” Although, we may view this as an inordinate emphasis on vanity, in reality, it may not be. Think about it! Would they have achieved stardom in show-business due to their excellent health? Of course not! Image is everything in their world. They just know how to project their image to the best of their advantage. We must learn to do the same.
What can we learn from movie stars?
If movie stars put their best foot forwards, wouldn’t we gain limited success by applying their thinking? Consider this–just because a movie star is naturally good looking, doesn’t cause her to not wear makeup. No, she will actually put emphasis on it. Consulting makeup artists to achieve her best natural look. Accentuating the positive, and making negative features less noticeable. Their livelihood and reputation depends on their taking every advantage to look their very best, on camera and off.
How to capitalize on your looks?
Movie stars are privileged to employ the efforts of various makeup artists to achieve their best look. This gives a fresh perspective on what may look better. However, most women who are not in show business, have only done their own makeup application. As a habit, they may be using unfavorable colors and application methods. If you feel like you need a new perspective, why not consult a makeup artist? Their fresh approach and greater experience, might be just what you need to accentuate your best facial features. It is common for women to consult their hair-dressers for a new look–why not do the same with a makeup artist?
How natural cosmetics can help?
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just accentuate positive facial features and not have to cover up imperfections. Well, the truth is many skin problems are actually a result of makeup! Most makeup products contain chemicals that irritate the skin and cause blemishes, discoloration, redness and dryness. Instead of covering up facial flaws with synthetic blends of makeup, why not try to correct these flaws by the use of natural cosmetics? You will be surprised how much better your skin will look and feel. Also you will not need to wear as much foundation and makeup! This will save you time, money, and you will be able to concentrate on accentuating positives!
Yes, looks do matter! We do live in a society that puts a great deal of emphasis on appearance. Without cosmetics, society views women as not fully dressed. We can’t change that. But we can take advantage of this. By wearing cosmetics in a way that accentuates our appearance, cosmetics can actually open doors that may otherwise be closed.

Applying Eye Makeup – the Key to a Beautiful Face
Article by Vivian Timson
Applying eye makeup takes constant practice to bring out the best in your eyes. You first need to know on what works best for your eyes in order to have easier eye makeup applications. For your eyes, you need to have sufficient knowledge on mascara, eyeliner pencil, and powder eye shadow for a more perfect look.
Let’s start with the mascara application. Before applying the mascara, you may consider curling your lashes first with a lash corner in order to open up the eyes. This step is really helpful in framing the eyes, especially if you have short lashes. To curl the eyelashes with the use of the lash curler, you can begin by squeezing in steps from the lash line for about ¾ toward the tip of the lashes. For the mascara, it is usually applied in two coats. Place your finger at the mid-lid or on your eyebrow and pull it up to hold the lid taut. Hold the wand in horizontal position and sweep on the mascara from the roots going to the ends. Only apply to the lash tips and roll the wand slightly as you start to move. And lastly, wiggle the wand from side to side in order to evenly distribute the mascara and have a very good end result.
There are many good mascaras in the market today. But before purchasing the mascara, make sure that it is rich in moisturizers. After the mascara application, allow it to dry in order to thicken the lash and prevent clumps. It usually takes 4-5 minutes for the lashes to dry. You have to be patient as a wet mascara can only ruin your makeup and turn all your efforts in vain. As you begin with the second coat, avoid blinking as it can cause the wet lash end to leave messy marks. Once the first application is already dry, apply the second coating. Carefully apply the mascara to the upper side of the lashes and wait for another few minutes to let it dry.
After applying the mascara, you can now focus on applying the eyebrow pencil. Before starting, you need to sharpen the pencil then lightly scribble it on the back of your hand in order to dull down the sharp portion of the eyebrow pencil. Draw thin lines in the exact direction of your brow in order to perfectly define its shape. Avoid drawing an outline around the brows as it will create a very unnatural look. It would also help if you find a good quality eyebrow pencil as it has firmer texture that could help the liner stay longer and prevent constant breaking.
And when it comes to your eye shadow application, the colors of the eye shadow must be perfectly blended on the lids. Eye shadow colors should be smooth and harmonious looking. To achieve this, you need three colors: the base color, the main color and the highlighter. Apply the base color first and then put the main color. And lastly, highlight the crease of your eyes for a more alluring effect. This only proves that it does not take a genius to applying eye makeup. All you need to do is follow the given steps and guides to have a very satisfying end result.
